Even though you don't own your own home you have personal property that can be lost to fires, burglaries, storms and even lawsuits. A renters or tenant policy protects you from the loss of your personal property, thing like your clothes, furniture, TV’s, stereo equipment, appliances etc. If you add it all up you’ll probably find that you have a significant amount of property which would be very expensive to replace. While most homeowners are insured for these risks, many renters are not.
